LaBelle Cemetery, located on the banks of the Oconomowoc River, is a place of peace, reflection, and community care. The cemetery as you see it today was established at its current site in 1864, making us the oldest licensed cemetery in Oconomowoc and a hidden gem for residents and visitors alike.
We are honored to be a veteran‑friendly cemetery, annually recognizing the sacrifices of our service members on Veterans Day. From Civil War veterans to those who served in more recent conflicts, many rest here in dignity among our grounds.
We offer a range of plot options tailored to your needs—whether for immediate arrangements or pre‑planning—including traditional in‑ground, mausoleum, and above‑ground spaces. Visitors often stroll our 5 miles of roads and paths through quiet acres, experiencing a serene landscape that honors memory and community.
Today, LaBelle Cemetery operates under the oversight of the Oconomowoc Cemetery Association, governed by a board of trustees. Daily operations are managed by our caretaker and staff, who handle lot sales, burial services, placement of cremains, and ongoing care of the grounds.
In the News...
CBS58 recently shared a feature on their morning show about LaBelle Cemetery. The news story explained how LaBelle Cemetery is being reimagined as both a resting place and a peaceful community park. Dating back to the 1850s, it offers scenic walking paths, river views, and local history. Residents visit to walk dogs, fish, and enjoy nature. Cemetery president David Voigt hopes to revive the old tradition of spending time among loved ones’ graves and plans community events to welcome more visitors. Once seen as somber, La Belle is now embraced as a tranquil “hidden gem” connecting the living and the departed.
